A Staffordshire spa is to raise money for the county’s leading nature conservation charity by donating money from a 5k race which will see people challenge hills, mud and water.
Moddershall Oaks, near Stone, are holding a ‘Moddershall Mucky Ducks’ 5k race on Saturday 15th August. The race is described as a ‘friendly but feisty 5k race.’
The cost of entering the race, which is open to all ages and abilities, is £35 per entry – with £5 from each ticket sold going to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.
If you fancy coming along to the event but don’t want to race, you can watch your friends and family and purchase a spectator ticket for £9.50, which includes a barbecue.
Set in 72 acres of countryside, Moddershall Oaks has an abundance of wildlife from foxes and badgers to a variety of bugs and butterflies – they’ve even been home to endangered newts and bats – and wanted to raise funds for Staffordshire Wildlife Trust due to the work carried out by the charity across the county.
Penny Holland, Director at Moddershall Oaks, said: “We are excited to be hosting our first fun run around the charming village of Moddershall.
“The event is in association with the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust so we can also promote understanding and enjoyment in the natural world. We are very lucky to be located in such a beautiful place.”
As well as the donation to the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, each entry will include a bottle of water and a Mucky Ducks t-shirt, while a victory barbecue will be held after the race has finished.
