Hospices need “Community Friends “ – Wednesday 5th August

Douglas Macmillan Hospice and St.Giles Hospice are seeking volunteers to become a “friend “ with those people who live with Dementia .

Volunteers will be matched from their local community referred from the Care Facilitator based at the their local GP surgery . Through visiting your “friend” volunteers will provide a link to their community by reducing isolation ,provide meaningful activities and improve the person’s wellbeing.

Volunteers need to be friendly and outgoing, have effective communication , maintain confidentiality ,have good time management and flexibility . Full training will be given .

Anybody interested in this role are invited to attend an Open Day on Wednesday 5th August at the Stone Community Hub , Lichfield Street , Stone from 1.15pm – 2.45pm or at Christ Church , Christ Church Way , Stone on Tuesday 11th August from 6.00pm – 8.00pm .

“ We are delighted to be running the befriending project in conjunction with GP First and St Giles Hospice . We are hoping to recruit local members of the Community to support local people living with dementia. “.
