The autumn often sees the start of new groups and this year it appears that there will be a bumper crop on offer. A beginners Spanish class will start on Monday 14th September at Stone Tennis Club from 2pm to 3.30pm. The lessons will consist of both conversation and grammar. Anyone interested should contact group leader, John Hughes on 01782-385299 for full information or email him at hughessue@sky.com

For culture vultures, Michael McConville has two new projects in mind: lovers of the Bard may well be attracted to his Shakespeare’s Dramatic Action weekly group which will explore the plays in depth through movement, masks, voice, music and Improvisation. ‘Hamlet’ will be the starting point on Monday 28th September at Walton Community Centre, Chairman’s Hall, 2pm till 4pm. If music is more your thing, then his new Opera group will involve live screenings at local cinemas from the Royal Opera House. This weekly group will both listen to the operas and make a careful study of the librettos in advance of viewing to aid greater appreciation. Mozart’s ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ will be the first offering. Whether your passion is literature or music, contact Michael on 01785-251632 to obtain full details and to register interest.

Also in embryo, are new groups for Allotment Gardening, Electric Guitar and Sewing Crafts plus the revamped Talking Books which will add even more variety to Stone U3A’s wide-rang-ing programme. There is truly something for everyone. For more information please con-tact Chairman Gywnyth Hart on 01782-633179 or visit the web-site, www.stoneu3a.btck.co.uk
