100’s of local runners are already in training for the Katharine House Hospice 10k run and 5k fun run which returns to Shugborough on Sunday 4th October 2015.
Events Fundraiser Lisa Carson said:
“This year we have changed the format of the event slightly as our 2K fun run has now become 5KM! Both the 10KM run and the 5KM fun are chip timed this year, and every single runner will receive a commemorative medal for their efforts. For those wanting to dress up for the occasion there will be a super hero theme across both races – although this is purely optional”
The 10k Run which is the perfect event for novice runners, families and seasoned professionals alike, is part of a busy events schedule for the Hospice which needs to raise £2.7m per year to provide free services to local people and their carers. Stafford Harriers running club have been offering their expertise in the organisation of the event again to ensure a great run for runners of all abilities, whilst the Stafford Railway building society are kindly sponsoring the event for the sixth year running
“Runners can help us by registering for the event at £12 per adult or £5 for under 16’s. We are extremely grateful for the sponsorship support from individual runners as this really makes a difference to the Hospice”
Last year’s run saw over 400 people taking part in both the 10k and fun runs – and raised over £12,000 for the Hospice, thanks to the individual sponsorship and support of Stafford Railway Building Society.
Katharine House Hospice provides free care and support for adults and their families across Mid-Staffordshire coping with a progressive illness. It relies upon the generosity of the local community to help generate 75% of funds needed to run its range of vital services.
