Now the dust has settled, and summer is well into its second half, the Stone Festival committee took time out recently to review this years event and start planning for 2016!
Having had Festival Committee members speaking to literally hundreds of you at the various events in 2015 the reaction from the various events held this year was one of over whelming positivity so we will build upon those and look at the other areas where small changes might yield even higher levels of satisfaction.
Record numbers of participants for some of the events like the Raft Race, Dog Steeplechase and Show, Treasure Hunt and the Motorcycle Show coupled with great numbers at some of the new events like the Proms, gives us a great platform to build upon and when you think that all of the proceeds from the week go to local causes, its no wonder why Stone turns out so well for the various events.
Although the theme for 2016 has yet to be finalised, we already have a number of definite ideas that will further shape and enhance the Festival with the possibility of some new venues around the town being used and some new interesting groups who are wishing to be part of the week.
So where now? Well 2016’s event has already started behind the scenes and you will begin to see more details being released between now and Christmas in readiness for the work that will commence in earnest in January to ensure that 2016 Festival Week is yet another record breaking event, encompassing more family fun, even more interesting activities to join in on and of course, raising even more money for our town.
The Festival is about bringing the hugely varied talents and energy of Stone together for your pleasure and if 2015 was anything to go by we achieved our goal, 2016 is not that far away and rest assured it will be bigger and better than before, so the Festival Committee look forward to meeting and chatting with you over the coming weeks and months as it all begins to take shape.
