Giant dandelions at Trentham

Giant-Dandelions

The sight of 12 giant dandelion sculptures at Trentham Gardens is guaranteed to take visitors’ breath away. Standing at an impressive five metres tall with pretty seed heads over a metre wide, these stunning works of art are the brainchild of Trentham’s very own ‘Fairy Man’ Robin Wight, whose playful garden fairies gained global attention after a visitor photo posted online instantly resulted in millions of hits!

Created by his daughter Amy, these latest sculptures will be impossible to miss situated alongside the lake and the colourful and ever changing Wildflower Meadow, inspiring a captivating focal point which is sure to become a favourite photo spot for visitors to Trentham.

Amy explains:

“We began work on the dandelions about three months ago, although our inspiration came when we installed Wishes at Trentham back in 2014.
It’s really hard to appreciate the full scale of the dandelions until you’re up close. The stems are huge poles and I was able to climb right inside the head of one when we were assembling them.
They look spectacular with the Wildflower Meadow as a backdrop, and you can imagine how beautiful they will be when lit up at night at the firework display in November – just like an enchanted forest.”

Excitement is also building around the arrival of a new fairy to the popular magical clan. Named ‘Spring’ the naughty nymph will appear as though she’s pole-vaulting from a delicate dandelion into the landscape beyond.

The dandelions display has been installed this week and has already received an amazing reception from visitors, with Facebook pictures reaching over one million people in its first week!

The Trentham Fairy Trail and dandelions are open to all visitors to Trentham Gardens and are included in the cost of admission to the gardens.
