Phase 1 of Northfield Village has won the Joint-Venture Development of the Year at Inside Housing’s Top 60 awards; a ceremony held to celebrate and commemorate the hard work carried out in the sector to provide the best in affordable housing and facilities.

Northfield Village is a unique development which brings together a range of accommodation, community and care facilities on one site. The project is a partnership between The Wrekin Housing Trust, Choices, Staffordshire County Council, Stafford Borough Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, NHS, Stafford Health and Wellbeing and Galliford Try.
Phase 1 compromises of two Choices schemes – Limewood Dementia Care Home and Salt Bank Court Supported Housing. Also included is a GP surgery and pharmacy, affordable general needs housing and a biomass energy centre to provide the site with heating and hot water.

Jean Teichmann, Head of Development at The Wrekin Housing Trust, said:

“We’re really proud of our unique development as it brings together specialised care facilities, supported housing and affordable rent all on one site. Northfield Village really does have it all. Now that Phase 2 is almost complete, the development has a fantastic community feel with the residents regularly using the bar, restaurant and café facilities along with the general public. ”

Nigel Downs, Managing Director of Choices, said

“It’s a wonderful achievement to win such a prestigious award. Limewood is a specialist dementia care home that allows a person-centered and innovative approach to delivering outstanding care, and the design of the building plays a crucial role in this. The whole village works together to provide excellent services for its residents and the local community.”
