“Church service? I don’t go to church!” But even if you don’t, please carry on reading.
Do you ever feel that your life is so busy that you don’t have time to be quiet and think? Do you find yourself getting wound up and stressed? Do you have a physical illness that is worrying you?
If any of these things are affecting you, then you may find you get comfort and relief by coming to a meeting in church that is designed especially for people just like you. In the evening, on the first Sunday of every month, at St Michael and St Wulfad’s, we have a time for people to gather for quiet thought.
It could be called service, but it’s not like a usual service. No hymns and definitely no sermon! It’s a time for reflection, meditation and prayer. If you would like there is also the opportunity for a blessing from a priest and even a chance to have a quiet personal word with him or her, but that’s not compulsory or even expected.
