Rotary’s District Governor, Richard Green, paid a visit to Rotary in Stone in October.
He congratulated members on their achievements and encouraged them to redouble their efforts to contribute to the Community. Richard’s theme for the year is ‘Young at Heart’ and the Stone Rotarians strong record of supporting young people and encouraging local schools to take part in Rotary’s many youth competitions certainly fits with that theme.
Richard heard that Rotary in Stone had organised their first Health Awareness Day earlier this year and he was delighted that plans were afoot for another event in 2016.
Rotary has been at the forefront of eliminating Polio from the world, and in Richards words ‘we are nearly there’. Just one case a week throughout the world is being recorded now but vigilance is essential and he was told that Rotarians in Stone will continue to support this massive effort.
The Club’s other plans for the year include many of their regular events, such as Children in Need and the Santa Sleigh.
Richard is one of 26 District Governors in Britain and Ireland, he is responsible for 55 Clubs (and nearly 1600 Rotarians) in Staffordshire, Shropshire and parts of the West Midlands, which comprise Rotary District 1210.
Rotary in Stone welcomes men and women of all ages who want to put something back into the local Community, whilst having fun with a group of like minded people.
Any local residents who would like to know more should contact the Club, either by e-mail to email@example.com or call on 01785 819807.
