Stone Lions Club Walk For Sight

On Tuesday 6th October Stone Lions were joined by children from Christchurch First School, Guide Dogs for the Blind and, of course, our Town Mayor Councillor Mike Williamson for their annual blindfold walk along Stone High Street to mark World Sight Week.

The mayor commented on how quickly the children became aware of the problems faced by blind and partially sighted people and most really enjoyed making a fuss of the guide dogs!

Since being challenged in 1925 by Helen Keller, herself deaf and blind from birth, to become ‘Knights of the Blind in a crusade against darkness’ Lions Clubs International have become leaders in the worldwide fight against blindness and preventable eye disease.
