Katharine House Hospice is inviting local people to celebrate the life of someone special as the annual Light Up A Life Appeal launches. By dedicating a light on the Hospice Christmas tree, supporters are able to cherish memories of a loved one whilst providing vital support to the Hospice.
Director of Care Services Jackie Kelly said:
“Last year almost 3,000 lights were dedicated on our Christmas tree, each one in memory of special person who is no longer with us. Your loved one does not need to have been cared for by the hospice, you can dedicate a light in memory of anyone who you love and miss at this time of year”
“Christmas is a difficult time for some, particularly if it is the first Christmas without a loved one. Many people find a lot of comfort in the fact that a light shines in the memory of someone dear to them – it symbolises hope for the future and acts as a focal point for cherished memories. Everyone who supports the appeal will help local patients and their families living with progressive illnesses at Katharine House Hospice and in the community”
Head of Fundraising Sarah Hulson-Beech said:
“As well as a light shining on our tree, supporters will receive a personalised card bearing the name of their loved one, an entry into our Book of Lights, and an invitation to our Light Up a Life service at the hospice on the 13th December with carols and prayers around the Christmas tree”.
