Stone students act – and dance – their way to exam success

Students at Stone’s Rooftop Studios are celebrating excellent results in the latest round of LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) Drama and RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ballet.

The studio has once again achieved a 100% pass rate in both disciplines, with a number of students in each gaining coveted distinctions. And the nationally recognised qualifications are more than just a measure of talent – they can boost student’s chances of getting places in Higher Education institutes, as studio director, Laura Keeling, explains:

“We’re so proud of the performance of all the students who took their RAD ballet and LAMDA Drama exams this year – the results speak for themselves and it takes a combination of talent and hard work to meet the high standards set by both examination boards. Achieving qualifications through these organisations is more than a way of measuring how far you’ve come in a childhood pastime – for those looking to go onto higher education, achieving LAMDA qualifications or grade 5 or above at ballet can gain them valuable UCAS points that are applicable whether students want to go onto a career in the performing arts industry or pursue an academic subject at college or University.”

While the studio team is proud of the achievements of all its students, the results of two LAMDA drama students particularly stood out, says Laura:

“A 100% pass rate with several distinctions is fantastic, but we must make special mention to two students – 18 year old Freddie Borgman and 19 year old Laura Pyatt, who both achieved distinctions in their LAMDA exams with the amazing scores of 95% and 91% respectively. We’re incredibly proud that Laura has now gone on to win a place at the prestigious Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to our brilliant drama and ballet teaching teams who have honed the natural talents of each and every student to help them reach their full potential.”

Rooftop Studios offers a host of dance and performing arts classes for students aged 18 months – 18 years; with students offered the chance to put themselves forward for examination in their chosen subject or, if they prefer, simply enjoy progressing in the discipline of their choice without the pressure of exams.
