Congratulations to Barbara Capper, from St Dominic’s Priory, who was flying the flag for the Great Britain Racketlon team in the recent European Championships.
Racketlon is a combination sport where competitors play a sequence of the four most popular racket sports: Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis.
Barbara participated in the team and Individual events and dominated the Ladies senior event winning the gold medal without participating in her strongest discipline which is tennis in any of the rounds.
In the team event the Great Britain team met Sweden in the final which meant Barbara was scheduled to play Lillian Druve a previous opponent who Barbara beat in the World championship final in 2013. Barbara was able to secure a one-point advantage in a hard fought competitive match for the ladies; however, the Swedish men proved to be extremely strong opponents for their British counterparts and won by 12 points which resulted in the Great Britain team claiming the silver Medal award in the team event.
