Is 2016 your year for a big challenge?

Katharine House Hospice is kicking off 2016 with a real challenge for supporters with a challenge event like no other.

The Snow & Sand challenge brings you a rare opportunity to experience the environmental extremes of Morocco in one amazing trip.

The challenge starts with a trek to the summit of Mount Toubkal, which at 4167m is North Africa’s highest point, and then onto the arid sands of the Sahara desert and the magnificent dunes of the Erg Chigaga region.

There is a narrow window of opportunity to trek both of these areas at the same time; just before the heavy winter snow sets in on the mountains and the searing summer heat in the dry desert starts to subside. The Snow & Sand Charity Challenge runs from 16th-25th September 2016 and is not only an unusual chance to experience the extremes of terrain, temperature and living conditions, but a chance to experience to the full the magic of Morocco.

If you are interested to hear about the Snow & Sand challenge, Katharine House are inviting you along to learn more at a presentation on Monday 25th January, 5.30 pm at the Business Centre.

Events Fundraiser Lisa Carson said

“The hospice have challenged supporters to trek the Sahara in recent years. This has proved really popular and has raised thousands of valuable pounds for the hospice. This year, we wanted to offer something a little different. Those embarking on the trek will experience the stunning views and cold temperatures of in the Atlas mountains, as well as sleeping out under clear starry skies and trekking in the searing heat across the sands of the Sahara in one go – it’s a real trip of a lifetime. Whilst taking part and getting sponsored they will also be helping the Hospice to provide its free care services for local people”

“We really wanted to give prospective adventurers a taste of the challenge and we are hosting a free presentation – on Monday 25th January at 5.30pm at the Katharine House Business Centre. The guides who will host the trek will be providing an exciting overview of the experience and some of those who trekked the Sahara in 2015 will also be there to chat about their adventures. The event is not to be missed if you have a spirit for adventure and would like to help your local hospice”
