On Monday the 28th December Stone Lions hosted their annual sponsored walk, after holding the last two events in the Spring it was decided to go back to the original date just after Christmas.
This proved to be the right decision as the weather was ideal for a bit of post Christmas exercise! 98 people turned up including a number of Lions from various clubs in the local area. Registration took place at the Labour in Vain at Yarnfield where walkers had the choice to do a short or long walk.
Money raised from the registration fee and a number of donations amounted to the grand total of £496.08p and this was split 70/30 between “Gemma’s Ray of Hope” and “STING”
The raffle raised £70.30 and this has gone into the Lions charity account. A big thank you must go to Rachel and Darren (friends of Lions) who organised the event, and the Labour in Vain for the use of their premises, where a number of walkers took advantage of the food on offer, also many thanks for the constant supply of coffee and mince pies!
The President and members of the Lions would like to thank all those who supported the event and to hope that those walking for their own charities had a successful day!
