The Health Walks in Stone started 13 years ago and are aimed at non walkers who want to improve their health, become more active and meet new people. Those who currently take little or no exercise and those who are recuperating from ill health are welcome.
Each week, two walks of varying length are offered to suit the needs of the participants and often attract up to fifteen walkers. Typically, they vary from one mile to 3miles in length. Walks are tailored to the ability of the walkers and last between 45 and 90 minutes.
Ideally a minimum of two leaders accompany each walk to ensure that a shorter walk is possible for those requiring it.
Most walks take place in Stone, but to add variety, on alternate weeks we car share to local beauty spots.
It is particularly rewarding to see the difference regular walking makes to the health and life style of those participating. Some have become regular members of the group, some have achieved their objectives and gone on to do other activities. Others have gone on to join the Ramblers and U3A walking groups to enjoy walks further afield.
The walks are free and take place on a Tuesday morning at 10.45, we meet at the scout hut in Westbridge Park. There is no need to book, just turn up
