Jessie Hollinshead of Great Bridgeford recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a party for family and friends. She decided to ask for money instead of gifts and donated almost £800 to Guide Dogs

Andrea Jones, Engagement Officer from Jessie’s local Guide Dog’s office in Shrewsbury, came to collect the funds:

“It was such an honour to meet Jessie and the amount of money she raised is amazing and incredibly generous. We thank her on behalf of all the people who benefit from the services Guide Dogs offer.”

Jessie has always loved dogs and always had one in the family. She now has macular degeneration which has resulted in her own sight loss, which was one of the reasons she chose Guide Dogs for the Blind to donate to:

“What do I need gifts for?” said Jessie “I think Guide Dogs are wonderful and am happy for all of this money to go to them.”
