On the 3rd February 2016, 16 Key Stage 2 pupils from Christ Church Academy were treated to an extra special workshop delivered by The Manchester Camerata.
The workshop was provided to number of schools in Stone and Stafford to give pupils the opportunity to understand how sound is made using orchestral instruments and everyday objects. During the session pupils composed their own short song with lyrics and created a rhythm composition using cutlery from the school canteen.
This was then performed with several other schools in the area at the Stafford Gatehouse in front of friends and family. Mr Harrison, Head of Music said
‘It was a wonderful opportunity for our younger pupils to not only perform to an audience, but to compose with musicians from the Manchester Camerata, extend the skills they have been learning in the classroom and be inspired.’
