Izaak Walton Golf Club has recently received a significant boost to its future development plans.
The golf club has secured a long term financing deal with its bankers, NatWest. This added to a successful VAT refund claim provides good reason to be optimistic for the future financial well being of the golf club.
Brian Freeman, Director, said
“This agreement, now in place, gives the golf club a firm financial footing to go forward with some optimism aiding the club in the implementation of its ambitious 5-year plan.”
Negotiations have commenced with Stafford Borough Council Planners with a view to submitting an outline planning consent for the erection of a new club house.
Later this year should see the opening of the six hole par three academy course at the venue, situated on the Eccleshall Road just outside Stone, whilst major changes to the golf course should all come into play this season.
The academy course is designed to provide a training facility for young golfers in the area to help boost interest in the sport from an early age.
Long time member and former Club Captain and President, Barrie Seaton, said:
“New members and visitors always emphasise the friendly and welcoming nature of our golf club, and the course itself is fast developing a reputation as one well worth a visit. The changes planned for this season will improve the course still further, whilst the new academy facility along with plans for a new clubhouse, should provide exciting new opportunities for us to attract new members.”
