With all summer activities now in full swing there are well over 50 groups available for U3A members to enjoy. Stone library hosts the Art Group exhibition throughout June but other specific events this month include:

Friday, June 3rd: the monthly coffee morning is an ideal opportunity for prospective members to meet up with committee representatives to find out what the vibrant organisation is able to offer. Existing members are welcome too of course. Free attendance. Recently, the venue has been Christ Church Centre but has yet to be finalised for June. Confirmation will be published on the website—www.stoneu3a.btck.co.uk—nearer the date.

Saturday/Sunday, June 11th/12th: As part of the village scarecrow weekend, Hilderstone Church will host a U3A photographic display whilst the Art group will be exhibiting in the village hall. Timings both days are 1.30-5pm.

Wednesday, June 15th: The quarterly speaker meeting at Christ Church Annexe features Irene Garner who is leader of the Family History Club at Staffordshire County Record Office. Her talk will be entitled “Eyam, the Plague Village”. The event is open to all members at a cost of £2 which includes a drink and biscuit. Please arrive at 1.15pm for a prompt 1.30pm start.

Saturday, June 25th: As part of the very popular street market within Eccleshall Festival, the U3A will be having a promotional stand on the High Street where people can discover the full range of activities available. Members of the committee will be on hand all day to answer queries and to supply information.

Friday, July 1st: 10th Anniversary celebrations for all members will be held at St Dominic’s Social Centre. This all day event will feature music and refreshments and should be a very special and highly enjoyable occasion. Full details will be published on the website later.
