Parents weighing up childcare options for May half term will be keen to hear Stone’s very own performing arts school, Rooftop Studios, is running four day-long workshops over the course of the week.

Catering for children aged 4 – 12 years, who will be split into age-specific groups, each of the days will be themed around a different Hollywood blockbuster. On ‘Nicktunes Tuesday’ 31st May kids will get creative with a Spongebob arts & crafts session, Goofy Goober dance class, and a Cartoon workshop – followed by an afternoon relaxing in front of The Spongebob Movie with milkshake and popcorn.

Little wizards and witches will love the Harry-Potter themed ‘Wizarding Wednesday’ on 1st June where their imaginations will be able to run wild with magical arts & crafts – and both drama and dance sessions based on the stories – before it’s movie time again with the first film in the Harry Potter series.

Thursday 2nd June is ‘Minion Madness’ day with minion face painting, singing & dancing to the minions’ banana song and Despicable Me-themed drama sessions; before the film Despicable Me/The Minion Movie is screened in the afternoon.

Last, but certainly not least, comes ‘Feel the Force Friday’ on 3rd June, where kids will participate in Star Wars model making and street dance with a Star Wars theme. Younger ones will love the Light Sabre and Star Wars Games and a storytelling session where they’ll be encouraged to ‘bring the Galaxy to life’; while the bigger kids can get a feel for the big screen as they shoot Star Wars movie scenes before learning stage combat skills.
Studio director, Laura Keeling, says:

“As a working mum I know only too well the pressures of finding ways to keep the kids happy during the school holidays and, following the success of last year’s summer school, decided we should run a similar scheme at half term. The aim will be to offer truly flexible sessions – you can pick n mix anything from a single half day to one or two full days, or even the entire four-day course – that the kids will love going to.

“The overriding aim of all the workshop will be to have fun, but our dedicated team of teachers will also be helping youngsters build confidence and develop new skills on the way. The sessions are equally suited to seasoned little performers who live and breathe dance and for those with no experience in dancing or acting at all.”

Rooftop Studios’ Half Term Club will run from Tuesday 31st May – Friday 3rd June 2016. Spaces cost £12.50 for a half-day; £23 for a full day and £80 for all four days (£75 if booking before May 21st). Sibling discounts and before and after care options available too.

Spaces are strictly limited so advance booking is advised – to secure your space, call 01785 761233 or email info@rooftopstudios.co.uk. For more information on Rooftop Studios, head to www.rooftopstudios.co.uk
