The Stafford Sinfonia will perform their next concert on Saturday 21st May 2016 in our usual venue, Rising Brook Baptist Church, Stafford at 7:30pm. (Admission price is £9.00, including refreshments, payable at the door; children accompanied by an adult are free.) We very much hope you can join us for what promises to be a very popular and enjoyable event.
Following his hugely successful debut at the Stafford Sinfonia’s New Year concert, Jack Lovell will be directing the orchestra in their ‘Mostly Mozart’ concert as part of this year’s Stafford Music Festival.
The orchestra will be welcoming guest soloist Ken Min Chyh Lim, currently in his final year of study at the Birmingham Conservatoire, to play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.17.
The concert will open with the Overture to Iphigeneia in Aulis, the first work that Gluck wrote for the Paris stage, the version the Sinfonia are playing having been arranged in the mid-19th century by Wagner.
As the title of the concert suggests, Mozart is the main feature of tonight’s repertoire, the second piece being the Symphony No. 31, but the orchestra will also explore a work by a composer that has been known as Mozart’s ‘Musical Father’ – the Symphony in D by C.P.E. Bach.
