Tickets for The Festival of Quilts 2016, Europe’s leading patchwork and quilting event, are on sale now. This unique Festival takes place from 11th-14th August 2016 at the NEC Birmingham (Halls 7, 8 and 9). It attracts 24,000 visitors from across the world with over 1000 quilts by talented makers on display, including 700 competition quilts. Competition categories from My First Quilt to Fine Art Quilt Masters ensure there’s something to inspire everyone.
Extraordinary workmanship takes centre stage at The Festival. In the professionally-curated galleries, visitors can view exquisite quilt art by acclaimed international artists Claire Benn, Kaffe Fassett, Brigitte Morgenroth, Ingrid Press, Pam Stallebrass and Cécile Trentini. Groups of artists featured include Art Textiles: Made in Britain, the Dharavi Biennale, European Quilt Association, Quilts from Korea & Japan, the Magna Carta Quilt Association, Quinary, Studio Art Quilt Associates, The Quilters’ Guild of The British Isles, quilts from Russia, the Traditional Quilters’ Guild and the Yorkshire Quilters’ Guild.

• Shopping – from over 300 specialist patchwork and quilting suppliers. Stock up on the best fabric, threads, notions, patterns and more;
• The Festival Theatre in association with Create and Craft – hosting the Fashion Show, Awards Ceremony and demonstrations by leading experts;
• Lively after-hours social events programme – including The Festival of Quilts competition Awards Ceremony, Festival Dinner, Fashion Show, Designer Supper with Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably, and visits to Birmingham Botanical Gardens and The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet;
• The Virtual Studio – a live wet studio environment with artists working in-situ with dyes, colour removing agents, acrylics, rusting processes and other media;
• Game of Quilts – a new-for-2016 feature in which teams of visitors rise to the challenge to make a quilt from scratch during the festival.

Over 40 different one-hour sessions running every day of The Festival. This year’s programme is bigger than ever, covering an exciting and diverse range of patchwork, quilting and other stitching, dyeing and printing crafts. Advance tickets cost £12 per session (+£1.50 booking fee) and include all materials. All Quick & Easy Workshops are CPD certified. The Quilt Academy Programme
A packed schedule of 3-hour, 1 day and 2 day classes plus five ‘early bird’ classes on Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th August, led by internationally renowned tutors. Classes range from traditional patchwork and quilting to dyeing, mixed media and even dressmaking for patchwork enthusiasts. Advance standard price tickets start at £17.00 (+£1.50 booking fee) for a 90 minute session, with additional costs for materials as set out in the programme. The Talks & Discussions Programme
