It’s just another Civic Sunday

July 3rd and the Stone Town Mayor, Cllr Jim Davies, leads the Civic Parade down to St Michael’s & St Wulfad’s for the annual Civic Service, followed by a Civic reception at the Crown.

Over the years, the first Sunday of July has been kind to the parade – though your intrepid editor once had to hide from the deluge at the Crown – unlike the poor paraders who had no respite until St Michael’s – there are worse places to shelter!

Led by the Stone Town Scouts and Guides Band, the parade went down the High Street and this year there seemed to be more crowds – possibly making up for the shortage of paraders – it would appear that the national events in June have had a decided impact on what should traditionally have been an all party event in Stone.
