The CMSYL has been the most prestigious youth football league throughout Staffordshire & South Cheshire for many years – but they NEED YOU!
The County Minor Sunday Youth League has possibly failed at present to attract sufficient teams to run a viable league for next season.
After 48 years of running, the lowest number of teams, six, attended last night’s AGM to play in the league next season. We are therefore appealing for teams at U17 or U18 to come and join the existing 6 teams to make up at least one strong division.
Stafford Rangers, Brocton, ASC Tigers, Cheadle Town, Audley, Foley and Uttoxeter Town have all left due to their teams from last season being too old. These are all obviously senior clubs and have either no teams coming up to replace them or these teams have decided to go elsewhere.
Stafford Town & Crewe FC were late withdrawls, mainly due to staffing issues. This had left us with Newcastle Town, Nantwich Town and Hanley Town from last season, along with new applications from Kidsgrove Athletic, Stone Dominoes and Stone Old Alleynes, once again all senior clubs.
Once again last season, teams from the CMSYL won the Sentinel Cup & County Youth Cup, in my 20 years with the league, we have only failed to bring both to the table on 2 occasions, a feat I think is down to the playing standards set in the league. I would therefore appeal for those teams out there to consider joining the CMSYL this season to keep it going forward and setting the standards in local youth football.
All 6 teams with be entering the Sentinel Cup, I would also like to appeal to any teams in the U17/18 age groups wishing to enter the Sentinel Cup this season to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07769 504388.
Hopefully this appeal will swell numbers for the CMSYL and sentinel cup for the coming season.
