Families are being given a chance to find out more about the weird and wonderful world of underwater creatures at a series of guided pond dipping sessions this summer.
The pond dipping sessions take place through to the start of September at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust’s Wolseley Centre headquarters, near Rugeley.
Those taking part will be given a net and tray to look closer at some of the fascinating inhabitants which live beneath the water at the Centre, and will be given the chance to examine the creatures with the help of staff before returning them to the water safely.
The sessions take place at 10:30am to 11:30am and 1:30pm to 2:30pm on the following dates: Monday 15th August, Thursday 25th August, Sunday 28th August and Friday 2nd September.
Victoria Liu, Wolseley Centre Warden, said:
“The sessions will be a great opportunity for youngsters and adults alike to see a variety of pond life up close.
“Pond dipping is a lot of fun and no previous knowledge is required when signing up to book a place, a knowledgeable guide will be on hand for all the sessions to help identify what is found and give full instructions to get the most out of the session.”
Those attending should wear suitable outdoor clothing and dress for the weather.
The events are free to residents from Cannock when quoting ‘WILD CANNOCK’ upon booking.
Otherwise it is £3 per person and children must be accompanied by an adult. Booking essential. Call 01889 880100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
