Youngsters who love to act, sing and dance are in for a treat this Summer holiday, with two West End performers set to host a workshop at Stone’s Rooftop Studios on Wednesday, 10th August 2016.
Former Rooftop Studios student Alex Mellor – who performs under the stage name Alexandra Parkes – fresh from playing Jan in GREASE, and fellow performer Melissa Lye, who played Patty Simcox in the same production, will lead the workshop aimed at 4 – 12 year olds. Activities on the day will include drama games and singing, the chance to play a Pink Lady or T-Bird and learning the Hand Jive dance routine.
The workshop is just one day of a two-week programme, running from 8th – 12th and 22nd – 26th August respectively. Each day has its own theme which include, in addition to the Grease day, Marvel comics, Dr Seuss, Lego, Monster High, Toy Story, and Frozen alongside days dedicated to dance and drama.
Studio director Laura Keeling says:
“We’re hugely excited to welcome Alex back to lead this workshop – alongside Melissa she has first-hand experience of appearing on the West End stage in one of the most famous musicals in the world. For them to be able to share this with youngsters and help them hone their skills is a represents a great opportunity to youngsters with a passion for the performing arts. It’s the icing on the cake of a fortnight of workshops that offers plenty to keep both boys and girls busy and interested while providing flexible childcare.”
With just 40 spaces available per day, workshop spaces cost £12.50 for a half-day; £22 for a full day and £110 for a full week. Sibling discounts and before and after care options are available too.
