This year was a race with a difference in as much as there wasn’t one!
Due to river conditions on the 2nd July the race had to be postponed on health and safety grounds, as the river was in full torrent.
A date was planned for another attempt to release the ducks but this time due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisers it was again decided not to hold the event; instead a raffle draw was done to determine this year’s winners.
In the history of the Duck race it had never been known for a race to actually be cancelled and President Mark and members of the club would like to apologise for this break in tradition, and hope that all those who bought ducks and were hoping to watch them jostling for position in the river will continue supporting the Club’s many fundraising activities.
Thanks to you all for your support of the Lions events, without which they would not be able to respond to the many needy causes in the local community.
