Stone Dominoes Ladies 5 – Tamworth Ladies 5

Stones first home game of the season was full of end to end action. Stone dominated from the start, soon finding themselves 1-0 from Mollie Prime cutting in from the left and slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Soon after a quality corner came in from Holly Salt, giving Tash Tezgel an opportunity to get on the end of it heading home to make it 2-0. Stone stepped off the pace and Tamworth soon pulled one back after a lapse in concentration. 2-1. Stone retaliated with another goal this time from Holly Salt getting her name on the score sheet.

The first half although full of possession for the Dominoes, somehow wasted much of the play by forcing long balls and holding onto the ball for way to long very frustrating to watch when this Stone side is one of the strongest in their history.

3-1 half time

During the break, Stone made 4 changes , Nat Price in centre mid, Meg Barlow at Centre defence, Poppy Hallam at left back and Vikki Garner as striker, this affected the teams balance and the Dominoes found themselves on the back foot and before they knew it they were drawing 3-3.

Then Tamworth took full advantage of a couple of mistakes and took the lead. More changes were made in the dominoes side and the score went to 4-4 when striker Vikki Garner found herself infront of goal.

Tamworth instantly responded and their striker made the same run splitting the defence again, and a shot on target gave Tamworth the lead again 5-4. With minutes to go, Stone were pressing for an equaliser, Mollie Prime took a shot and the keeper got a hand to it however Vikki Garner was on hand to smash it into the back of the net 5-5.

Disappointed with throwing the 3-1 lead away Stone were pleased to take a point from their game after the last few games struggling to get any points.
