Join the RSPB team for a wreath-making workshop
The RSPB Coombes Valley team will be hosting Coombes Crafty Christmas, a wreath-making workshop, on Sunday 4 December from 12.30 pm – 2.30pm. Join them in their magical yurt in the woods for some festive fun creating your own Christmas wreath using holly picked on the reserve, under the instruction of a professional local florist.
Every year, large amounts of holly need to be removed from the woodland to maintain the habitat of native birds, such as Pied Flycatchers, Redstarts, and Wood Warblers. To make sure that the holly doesn’t go to waste, the Coombes team invites guests to join them for a fun-packed afternoon of wreath-making, creating a unique gift for a loved one or a beautiful decoration for your own front door.
Rachel Harrison, Visitor Experience Residential Volunteer for the reserve, said:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming guests into our cosy yurt for some festive Christmas crafts this December. This is a great opportunity to use the holly that we’ve had to clear from the woods, and it’s brilliant that Nicola from Brown Sugar Blooms will be there to guide us through the wreath-making process!”
Booking is essential as spaces are limited. The workshop costs £28 per person, with 20% off for members, and includes all materials, car parking, tea or coffee and snacks, and your own hand-made wreath.
