The RSPB Coombes Valley nature reserve is holding autumn and winter Valley Tots sessions, its popular parent and toddler group.
Sessions will be held on 15 November, 20 December, 17 January, and 21 February.
Valley Tots is a great opportunity to have fun discovering nature together, meet other parents and tots, and explore the world through outside play.
Come rain or shine, Valley Tots aims to involve and inspire children to take an active interest in nature and the environment through a mixture of outdoor activities, crafts and stories.
Coombes Valley nature reserve has a Mongolian-style yurt, outdoor craft barn, baby changing facilities, picnic area, and space to park, as well as buggy-friendly paths. The reserve is accessible to all.
Rachel Harrison, Visitor Experience Residential Volunteer for the RSPB, says:
“It’s not just important for children to spend time outside, it’s also really fun! These Valley Tots sessions are the perfect way to introduce little ones to all the sights, sounds and smells of nature, which they get to do through exploring the reserve and doing a craft.”
Tea and coffee is provided as well as a healthy snack and drink for the children. Parents and children should wear outdoor clothing and suitable footwear (such as wellies) for the time of year and weather. Please be aware that clothes can get dirty during the walks and activities.
Sessions cost £5 for an adult with one child and £1 for each additional child (20% off for RSPB members). Sessions start at 10.30 am and finish around 12.30. Feel free to bring along your lunch and enjoy a picnic on the reserve. Additional dates may be added.
