Residents in Stafford Borough will be able to recycle extra cardboard after Christmas Day with their kerbside collection.
On the first blue bin collection after Christmas Day, residents can put extra cardboard at the side of their bin. All Stafford Borough Council asks is that the cardboard is tied together in a bundle (not bagged) to make sure it doesn’t litter the streets.
With a big rise in recycling over Christmas, residents are advised to create extra space in their bin by removing the paper caddy and placing it at the side of their blue bin. If the caddy is placed at the side of the bin the contents must be in recyclable carrier bags.
Textiles and small electrical items can also be left for collection by placing them in bags by the side of either blue or green bins.
Around 200 tonnes of extra dry recycling is usually collected by Stafford Borough Council over the festive period.
Residents have also been urged to check their bin collection calendars to make sure they put their bins out on the right days over the festive period.
There will be revised collection dates for green, blue and brown bins across Stafford Borough from Christmas Eve to Saturday 7 January. Changes to the collection dates are clearly marked on residents’ bin collection calendars and they can also check online at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/collectiondays
