Walton students made a collection for the Salvation Army during a non-uniform day this term.
A fantastic £795.48 was raised and a cheque was presented to Major Nigel Govier, Corps Officer, Salvation Army, Cannock by Rebecca Yates, Year 10, who attends the Core regularly and Helen Venables, Head of House and Student Council coordinator.
Helen Venables comments,
“This was a student council decision representing the opinions of the Walton cohort. Students should feel very proud they are supporting such a worthy cause particularly at Christmas where needs are often greater.”
During 2016 Walton High students have raised a total of £ 3,558.15 for charities donating to The Samaritans, Comic Relief, Young Minds and MacMillan.
“The money donated to the Salvation Army today would go towards serving the poor and will include making up Christmas parcels, providing toys and helping the homeless. A huge thank you to all Walton High School students.”
