Following the announcement that The Tempest will feature as the production for 2017, the Stafford Festival Shakespeare management team have launched a brand new website to showcase the event’s continuing success.
Now entering its 27th year, Stafford Festival Shakespeare has fast become one of Europe’s largest and most popular open-air Shakespeare productions. Indeed, this year’s show, Othello, proved to be a resounding critical success – with
The Stage citing it as “winning production featuring powerful performances and an imaginative staging”. Similarly, Love Midlands Theatre called it, “a triumphant production” in which “everything… comes together beautifully.”
As the festival continues to attract acclaim, the management team are certainly not resting on their laurels, and the new website is part of a wider move to bring Stafford Festival Shakespeare to the masses, as Producer Derrick Gask explains:
“It’s amazing to look back on 26 years of performing shows at Stafford Castle and see how the festival has grown during that time. In recent times, we have had some fantastic success stories, such as the tour to Ludlow Castle in 2014, and the future of Stafford Festival Shakespeare looks brighter than ever.
“For 2017, along with the exciting news that the The Tempest will be our next production, we have decided to invest in a rebrand, as well as a new website, to match the Stafford Festival Shakespeare’s celebrated artistic and production values. We’ve had some fantastic feedback already, and with tickets now on sale for next year’s show, I would encourage everyone to get online and see what all the fuss is about” concluded Gask.
The Tempest will open on Thursday 22nd June and run until Saturday 8th July 2017 at Stafford Castle. Tickets are now on sale.
For the first time in its 27 year, SFS 2017 will also feature a Sunday performance on 25th June at 5pm.
Early Bird Tickets are available until January 31st 2017. The early bird offer saves £3 per ticket on selected performances.
