Putting Stone on the Map

For many years the organising of the Annual Stone Festival was something that we commenced in the early stages of the year in readiness for a glorious June.

These days however with more and more larger events run, the organising and preparation is an almost a year long event and 2017 sees things taken to an even higher level for the people of Stone. With over 28 events planned between Bank Holiday Monday 29th May through to Sunday 11th June 2017 there really is something for everyone this year including a fitting finale in the shape of a truly great Carnival on Saturday 10th June.

So why not get involved, your Town and Festival welcomes everyones involvement and whether it coming along to cheer the willing participants along or e even taking part, then there is something for everyone.

This year we have a mix of the traditional, the wonderful and the new. Events for the adventurous youngsters, for the sensible (or not so sensible) middle age Mums & Dads and for those in their active elder years are all available, so whatever your particular talents, why not make 2017 the year of giving it a go!

We have 3 great music events planned, catering for all ages and tastes with new music groups coming to the Festival to entertain you, the wonderful traditional events like the Raft Race, Dog Show, the Dog Steeplechase, The art exhibition, Treasure Hunt, Dog Kingcraft event, The Pig Race Mediumship evening, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Bowls competition to name a few plus three headline events with our 2nd Soapbox Derby race on Bank Holiday Monday 29th May which is set to grow even larger than last years huge success, the larger “Two Wheeled Tuesday” event on Wentbridge Park on Tuesday 6th June where there will be cycle racing and other events for all ages and finally our Annual Carnival on Saturday 10th June.

It is only when you see the programme of events and then the shear volume of local and regional people attending them, smiling and having a great time, that you realise just how vibrant Stone really is as town. We will be reaching out to as many people as possible between now and the end of May in a variety of media from our new local radio station in Stone Radio, through to the Gazette here as well as on social media and at www.stonefestival.co.uk .

Watch out for us at Stone Farmers Market too and come up and have a natter about whats going on or how you can enter into some of those events for the fun factor.

2017 is going to be a great year for the Festival. Bigger, better and so much fun – we look forward to see you all there.
