Stoke-on-Trent has been chosen to help deliver a new Get into golf pilot project.
Free taster sessions are being offered at three American Golf stores, with the Potteries venue the only one outside London.
Each Thursday shoppers will be able to take advantage of the chance to get in the swing between 5pm and 7pm, with expert advice available from England Golf regional manager Gareth Shaw, who is a PGA qualified professional.
The store can be found at 75-81 Newcastle Road.
For those interested, follow up coaching will be available at a number of clubs in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
Says England Golf regional manager Gareth Shaw:
“This pilot project with American Golf offers a great opportunity to showcase what golf has to offer to people of all ages and abilities.
“It is suitable for those who are brand new to golf, or for those who have tried the sport in the past but who would like to take it up again. The support from the clubs means expert follow-up coaching is also available.”
American Golf stores a huge range of golf equipment for players at all levels, including major brands such as Adidas and TaylorMade, with free UK delivery for orders over £50.
Store manager Joe Philips welcomed the new initiative, saying:
“It is great to showcase to our customers that they can not only buy their equipment from us but get technical support while they are with us too, so we are well and truly offering an all-round service.”
Get into golf is a national campaign to inspire new golfers run by the England Golf Partnership through its network of County Golf Partnerships, which work to grow the game.
Get into golf opportunities include free or low-cost beginner courses with PGA professionals. They are a fun and sociable way to start golf – and a great way to make new friends.
