WALTON CO-OP RECEIVES £500,000 MAKEOVER

The Co-op food store in Walton has embarked on a more than £500,000 programme of improvements.
The store, in Eccleshall Road, Walton – near Stone, will re-launch on Friday, 17 February, following an investment which will see a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas, hot foods, a Costa coffee dispenser and, an enhanced bakery.

The store will also deliver a funding boost for local community groups through its membership scheme.
Members receive a 5% reward on purchases of own-branded products and services, with a further 1% going directly to local causes to make a difference in the community – groups locally currently benefitting include: Stone Community Hub; Staffordshire Young Cricketers Trust and, Re-Solv. Money is being raised over a six month period before new good causes are selected to benefit.

Nick Sigley, Store Manager for the Eccleshall Road Co-op, said:

“We are delighted to have made such a significant investment in our Eccleshall Road store, it will be brighter and lighter and we are looking forward to welcoming the community into their new-look store. The Co-op is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum and this investment will enable us to better serve our community, supporting our aim to establish our store as a local hub, a real asset locally.”

Keith Salt, Area Manager, added:

“The return to our ‘clover leaf’ design logo – first used in the 1960’s – aims to re-establish the Co-op as a centre for the community, and we want shoppers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. We are also giving back to the community. Our members have an opportunity to make a difference locally. Simply by using their membership card when they shop with us they will raise much needed funding for organisations who contribute to improving local life.”
