Stone Festival Soapbox Derby Race 2017 – UPDATE FOR ENTRANTS

Hello fellow Soapbox Racers,

I trust you are all well and wanted to give you all an update on proceedings as we move ever closer to the 2nd Soapbox race on Bank Holiday Monday 29th May 2017 here in Stone.

Firstly, I am pleased to confirm to you all that this year we have two key sponsors for the event in Bri-Stor Systems and Alpha Manufacturing as well as Bassetts Transport of Tittensor who have kindly agreed to again loan us one of their vehicles for use as the starting location. Without all of our sponsors, events like this would never be able to take place and so I on behalf of the Stone Festival Committee would like to thank them on all of our behalves.

Secondly some great news about our Judges in so far as we have received confirmation  that Mr Gordon Banks of 1966 Goalkeeping fame for both England and Stoke City FC (and others) has kindly accepted our invitation for him to be on the judging panel!!!! This is a huge honour and I am positive will elevate our event even higher and I am hoping that Gordon will also be around at the end to hand out the prizes to you all.

We are putting the final touches now to the course and some of the new jumps etc which I am positive will go down a storm with both yourselves as competitors but also the viewing public.

We have now received in a good number of entries so thank you to you all who have done so in recent weeks and I know that a large number of you have all indicated that you will be coming and that Soapboxes are in the midst of build and being created, but may I ask if you haven’t sent back your official entry form yet, could you please fill out the one attached here (Ive reduced it down to the bare necessities) and put it in the post back to me at the address below so we may be able to get the start sheet sorted and put into print.. Your help in this is most appreciated in this regard Ladies and Gents

We will send out a number of updates between now and the event of course and we will be at the Stone Farmers Market on the first Saturday in April and May down the High Street if you want to come along and have a natter in person, so just look out for the large Bright Yellow Stone festival Gazebo and we will be in there 🙂

Hope your building carries on at a pace and look forward to speaking or hearing back from you all soon.

Kindest regards as always

Grahame Neagus
