WORK GETS UNDERWAY ON FIRST UNIT AT MEAFORD BUSINESS PARK

Construction work is now underway on the first industrial warehouse unit at St. Modwen’s Meaford Business Park development near Stone, paving the way for new investment and jobs.

The new 36,000 sq ft unit follows the recent completion of major infrastructure works, which has provided improved access to the business park from the A34.

The construction works are being carried out by Caddick Construction, following their appointment by St. Modwen last year. The unit is scheduled for completion in June 2017 and is available to let or for sale.

Extending to some 85 acres, Meaford Business Park has outline planning permission for up to 1.2 million sq ft of office, industrial and warehousing accommodation. In addition, the site includes Meaford Energy Centre (MEC), a 299MWe gas-fired power station for which planning consent was secured in July 2016. Once delivered, the MEC will provide the unique potential to offer occupiers the opportunity to secure cheap electricity by agreement as well as heating options from the waste heat generated by the power station. This will provide the site and its occupiers with security of power.

Euan Lindsay, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen, said

“It is always pleasing to see the first unit taking shape on a new development and we are very encouraged by the level of interest received from potential occupiers.

“St. Modwen has made a major commitment to bring forward the redevelopment of the former Meaford Power Station site and we are confident the success of the first unit will prove the catalyst for progressing the next phases of the development programme to meet occupier requirements.

“Meaford Business Park is able to offer a wide range of unit sizes up to some 700,000 sq ft and we look forward to working with all parties to bring about the inward investment and job creation from the development of the park.”

Andrew Murray, Managing Director at Caddick Construction, also commented:

“This development is a really exciting one for the area in terms of job creation and we’re very proud to be involved.”
