Ellie heads for Cambodia

Local Stone resident Ellie is travelling this summer with a group of fourteen likeminded teenagers to Cambodia and Laos to live and work in local communities.

They plan to trek through the countries to reach the villages where they will be staying. Their aim is to help in a variety of ways to improve the lives of the local villagers, some of the likely projects include repairing bridges, building water towers, creating animal shelters and developing gardens for local families to grow crops.

“I know it will be hard work but I am really looking forward to working within the local communities and helping to achieve something that will benefit the lives of many families.”

Ellie is raising all of the money to take part in this project £3,800 and has been busily fundraising over the last year. So far she has raised just over £2,000 in a variety of activities including a Bag Pack at Morrisons, a Tombola stall at the Farmers Market in Stone, she has run the café at a local Music and Drama Festival for which she baked over 200 cakes and most recently taken part in a 100ft sponsored Abseil down Alton Castle!
