News from Yarlet School

A fabulous time was had by Yarlet School’s intrepid skiers when they ventured to Claviere in Italy at the beginning of March.  The ski instructor, Stefano, was delightful with the children, all of whom had individualised feedback and targets.

They covered miles of piste, including some steep red runs.  As the trip progressed, the weather and ski conditions improved and everyone enjoyed some wonderful days in the mountains.

In the evenings, the children had great fun taking part in lots of activities such as bum-boarding and building snow sculptures.  At the end of the week, staff and pupils all returned home having had a great experience and with no major injuries!

Tuesday 14th March saw the long-awaited opening of Yarlet’s new library and it was a wonderful day full of fun-filled activities.

The staff and children all dressed up as much loved story characters and local storyteller, Alan Barrett, entertained each and every child during a range of bespoke lessons including interactive storytelling, drama and debating. At the end of the day, our official opening took place with a poetry recital including pupils from Forms 3, 5 and 6 and a poem penned specifically by Alan for our library.

Following the cutting of the red ribbon, parents and children visited our book fair and book tasting rooms as well as taking a tour of the new library. Thank you to everyone for their support and we hope you get as much pleasure from the library as we have had revamping it.
