Prescriptions? Order in time stay healthy this Easter

People in Stone, Eccleshall and Stafford are being encouraged to enjoy a healthy Easter by preparing ahead for the holiday period. NHS Stafford and Surrounds Clinical Commissioning Group is advising people to take a few simple steps to look after their health.

By making sure they know when their GP surgery is open, have a supply of their repeat prescriptions medicines and over the counter remedies, people can ensure they make the most of the long Easter holiday weekend.

This year many GP surgeries across the area will close for four days from Good Friday (April 14) through Easter Monday (April 17), before re-opening on Tuesday 18 April.

Dr Paddy Hannigan, Stafford GP and Chair of the CCG said:

“After winter, Easter is the busiest time of year for our health services. We want to remind people of the small steps they can take to ensure minor illness doesn’t ruin their Easter.

“Being prepared by having enough repeat medication to cover you and having some simple home remedies available can make all the difference if illness strikes. It is also important to plan ahead for any required repeat prescriptions over the Easter break, so please order and collect in good time.”

“Over bank holiday periods we frequently get calls from people who haven’t ordered their repeat prescriptions in time.  This puts unnecessary pressure on out of hours services and can be avoided by ordering in good time.”
