Barbara Bell, an artist from Stone, will be holding an exhibition of her works at The Festival Drayton Centre, Market Drayton, from 3rd to 29th July.
Barbara told the Gazette
”I have enjoyed painting for most of my life, ever since I was a little girl, and have attended local art groups for many years.
My favourite medium is oil as I love the effects that you can be achieved of light and shadow in this medium.
I also love walking in the countryside and because of this I like to paint places where I have walked. It feels as though I have more affinity with my work when I have actually walked along a particular pathway or just stood admiring a lovely view.
More than anything, I find inspiration in the magnificence of the natural environment. My aim is to share the passion I feel when immersed in nature and to convey the balance between the fragility and strength that emanates.
I would like to make my viewers feel as if they are with me as I capture those special moments.
Although landscapes are the main subjects of my work I also enjoy painting figures and especially dancers.
Could it be that I am a frustrated non-dancer?
More recently, my painting played an even greater part in my life during a long, challenging period of illness, it was profoundly therapeutic. This continues even now during my recovery.
I wanted to do this exhibition as my art has been invaluable to me and I do hope that you will enjoy seeing some of my work.”
