Staff and customers are celebrating at The Red Lion in Stone, following completion of the pub’s £178,000 refurbishment by national pub operator, Punch.
The Red Lion is located on the High Street and is the oldest pub in the town, offering a traditional pub experience with a wide range of quality beers, wines and spirits including a range of cask and craft ales.
The refurbishment has refreshed the pub throughout including full redecoration, new carpets, lighting and seating with the bulk of the investment being spent on the beer garden. Customers can now look forward to enjoying the warmer months in the attractive alfresco drinking area which features seating, lighting and a TV screen.
Tanya Moran has been the publican at The Red Lion for 11 years and is delighted to see Punch investing in the venue. Tanya said:
“We have a great bunch of regulars and it’s great to be able to offer them an improved pub experience. The pub looks so much fresher and the beer garden is fantastic.
“Although the pub has been given a makeover, the atmosphere remains the same. We are still a traditional, drinking pub but hope to widen our appeal to attract more women by introducing a wider range of drinks including quality teas and coffees and prosecco offers on ‘Fizz Friday’. I’ve had some great feedback from the regulars and have already started to see some new faces and can’t wait until the weather warms up to make the most of the beer garden which is a real suntrap.”
The Red Lion is a Cask Marque accredited pub, ensuring that customers always receive a great pint of cask ale. On Wednesdays, the pub holds a Real Ale Club where customers can enjoy special offers and try new pints. A wider range of gins and whiskeys have been added to the list following the refurbishment and the entertainment programme has been stepped up to offer plenty of live music alongside quiz nights, pool, darts, poker, a juke box and SKY/BT Sports and Racing UK.
Commenting on the investment, Punch openings manger, Aimee Moss, said:
“The Red Lion is often described as a ‘Tardis’ when new customers visit as it’s small on the outside but offers a great deal more behind the scenes. Tanya is an experienced publican who knows what her customers want – a great welcome, great ales and great company. I’m confident that she will maximise the investment that we’ve made in the venue.”
