Stafford and District Bereavement and Loss Support Service is celebrating the work of long term volunteers and staff who support people of all ages affected by the loss of a loved one.
Stafford Mayor Councillor Geoffrey and Mayoress Joan Collier will be honouring these caring local people at the charity’s Annual General Meeting at Katharine House Hospice on 23rd May.
SDBLSS has been supporting local people coping with the pain and challenges of grief and loss for over 30 years and relies on the kindness and generosity local people to fund its free support services.
The Mayor and Mayoress will be presenting staff and volunteers with long service awards for over 5 years’ service with the charity. Shyamali Fenton of SDBLSS Said
“Many people sometimes need to talk to someone in confidence outside of their friends and family circle, to help them to work through their loss in a way which can give them hope and strength for the future. That’s why we are here”.
“Bereavement is an experience that affects all of us at some time. We offer free confidential support and counselling for people of all ages who need to talk to someone with an understanding about their feelings. Our service is largely staffed by volunteers who give up their time to help local people. We are delighted that the Mayor and Mayoress will be joining us in celebrating people who make such a difference to their community”
