Stafford Borough residents are being invited to an open day with a difference – at a cemetery.
The Public Awareness Day next month (June) will give visitors a first hand look at how the cemetery on Eccleshall Road, Stafford is run.
Expert staff from the Borough Council will be available throughout the day, to talk about grave-digging, bereavement services, burial plots and how the site is maintained.
People will also be given the chance to speak to Council Officers about the cemetery’s five year improvement and development plans. As part of the plans the cemetery has applied for Green Flag status but will not find out if it has been successful until July.
Howard Thomas, Head of Environmental and Health at the Borough Council said:
“I know an open day at a cemetery may seem like an unusual choice of day out – but it is an interesting and informative one.
“The aim of the day is giving people a chance to find out more about our Bereavement Services, as well as ask questions about the many different services we provide, without the emotional grief associated with losing a loved one.”
The open day takes place June 7 between 10am and 4pm.
