A number of year 9 pupils have been competing in the Tenner Challenge over the last half term. This is a national competition which tasks pupils with using only 10 pounds to set up a business and make as much profit as possible, with half of any profit made being donated to the team’s chosen charity. All teams performed very well.

Special congratulations to Jessica Downe and Shannon Edwards (pictured) who beat 19,000 other teams from across the country to win the ‘Leap’ award for the business idea which showed the most potential.

Their company ‘Out of the box stationary,’ produced handmade, bespoke pencil cases.  Jessica and Shannon attended the National finals on Tuesday 2nd May at the Bank of England in London and were presented with their trophy by the Chief Cashier, Victoria Cleland.

Miss Purcell, Teacher of Business Studies/Acting Assistant Head of Deercote says,

“This Award was so well deserved and both girls are a credit to Walton High School.  Well done and congratulations to you both”.
