Counterfeit golf equipment with an estimated retail value of £35,000 if legitimate has been seized from a property in north Staffordshire.
Staffordshire County Council’s trading standards team seized over 600 golf club covers, over 150 polo shirts, hand grips and belts yesterday. The items were taken from a property in Kidsgrove, with police, brand holders and trading standards officers from Stoke-on-Trent City Council supporting the operation. All of the goods were being advertised online and the investigation is continuing.
Staffordshire County Council’s communities leader Gill Heath said:
“Counterfeiting damages businesses and communities and threatens jobs. It also helps to fund organised crime. In addition to goods being shoddy imitations, they can be unsafe as they are not product tested. This is another successful intelligence-led operation resulting from effective working with partner organisations.”
