Stafford Festival Shakespeare set for magical opening weekend with spectacular show

Producers of Stafford Festival Shakespeare are preparing for a busy weekend with the opening of this year’s spectacular show, The Tempest.

Following a demanding week of technical and dress rehearsals on site at Stafford Castle, the cast and crew are well prepared for the packed performance schedule, which this year includes a Sunday performance on 25th June at 5pm.

The show boasts a wonderful cast, including star of Coronation Street and The Bill, Stephen Beckett, and Richard Gibson who is well known for his performance as Her Flick in the popular 1980s BBC sitcom, ‘Allo ‘Allo!

Returning this year is the critically acclaimed Creative Team behind the 2016 smash-hit production of Othello: Director Clare Prenton, Production Designer Frances Collier, and Musical Director Craig Adams.

Two very special editions for 2017, however, are magicians Morgan & West, who have been consulting on the tricks of their trade in order to bring a magical element to the show.

“What a show we have in store for everyone” commented Producer Derrick Gask.

“All of us involved in this year’s production can’t wait to get up and running. It really is one of the most eye-catching productions in recent memory. Without giving too much away, the show’s magical elements are sure to impress audiences this year. Tickets are selling fast, however, so don’t forget to book” concluded Gask.

The Tempest will open on Thursday 22nd June and run until Saturday 8th July 2017 at Stafford Castle. Full ticket information and this year’s catering options can be obtained from the box office on 01785 619080 or by visiting
