Rebellion at the Castle – Sunday 20 August 2017

The Normans are descending on Stafford Castle this weekend for a ‘Rebellion’. Re-enactment Group Historia Normannis will be re-creating scenes from the early Medieval period. Witness the sights and sounds of the 11th and 12th centuries with sword play, music, dancing and games, Meet peddlers, peasants, knights and damsels. Enjoy a ‘hands on’ history talk and a guided tour of one of the largest surviving Norman fortifications in England.
Heritage Sites Manager for Stafford Borough Council, Mark Hartwell said,
‘Period events are always popular on the site and as Stafford Castle was first built in the Norman period this event is very poignant to us too’.
Stafford Castle has dominated the Stafford skyline for over 900 years. The site is one of the largest surviving Norman earthworks in the country and is designated a scheduled Ancient Monument.
